What's Happening at Shida

I thought I would start a News page for what is going on here and updates on pups and showing, etc.

January 2009
January 1st! CCCSC Specialty Palm Springs. MY FIRST TIME JUDGING SWEEPSTAKES!!!
What a wonderful time. 24 Puppies and 4 Veterans. Such an amazing experience. The puppies were just beautiful and I loved every one of them. So well behaved and nicely groomed. I was really impressed with the entire entry. Photos coming soon. I was teary through all of the Veteran classes. I showed against most of them when Shimmer was a puppy! A handsome boy bred by Janice Chafin-Bell and handled by Jena Lotsale was my Best in Sweeps and Shelly Hennesey's coal black puff bitch was my Best Opp. Darlene's fabulous Pia was Best Veteran in Sweeps and Leslie Gould's boy Cody was Opp.

January 3rd. Palm Springs - First time in Misc Class for the Xoloitzcuintli! I did not have an entry of my own but Kay Lawson was kind enough to let me take Joe's father Chance into the ring. Then I took in a BEAUTIFUL Standard bitch that Kay bred and won the breed -- over her father Benito! What a terrific win and such a lovely bitch. I hope to see her again soon. Photos coming!

The puppies are doing great and I am still waffling over who I am keeping. I just love them all. They are now in the kitchen and my cabinets and my feet will never be the same.

I'm down to almost 65 lbs lost and lots more muscle. Many people at the show did not reognise me. It was terrific and I feel so great now. I flew around the ring with the Xolo puppy and I could not have even imagined that 1 year ago.

January 4th. We have a visitor! Ray & Sharon Stevens and the Inman family sent their lovely Champion bitch Ch Sharbelle's Queen B at Gregmar home with me to be bred. She and Frog fall madly in love. A match meant to be. I am super excited to see what they will have.
January 11th Bea is back home now. I hope to be able to post updates regularly.

January 19th. Gaucho went to his new home. A local couple who will just love him so much. As of right now I will be holding on to the others and watching them grow up. There are things about each of them that I like so much!

November 2008

Show weekend 1-2
Saturday Mushu (Shida Ancient Chinese Secret) was Winners dog, Best of Winners and Tabitha (Shida Diamonds are Forever) was Winners bitch. Both got 2 points. Muriel Purkheiser
Sunday Mushu did not do anything and Tabitha was Winners bitch for 1 point only. Robert Mullen
Kind of drizzly and cold but it was nice to see everyone.
Mushu now at 7 with a major and Tabby is at 6 points. No more AKC shows in November for us.

Scott, Carolyn & Reilly Lebbow came to the show on Sunday with Princess Fiona Doggie Lebow (Xolo, Joe's sister). It was great to see her again and my how Reilly is growing! We got them fixed up with a new lead and Reilly was off practicing with Fiona. I see a budding junior handler!
I brought Joe to the show also and the two littermates had a great time seeing each other again.

Lil is looking great. The pups are due in 10 days or so and I can't wait to see them! I'm having a new fridge delivered next weekend and the chore will be to make sure the Princess does not get stressed -- well she loves food so she should love the new fridge!

I'm now down 50 lbs on my diet and trying now to slow down the weight loss so I learn better how to live on this new healthy diet -- this brand new world for me. Everything is still going great. Having a blast exercising and learning how to cook different foods, and what diet stuff tastes great!

Daylight savings time starting on the second. All the dogs will start to adjust to a new routine. It gets dark and cold way too early this time of year! Got a bunch of new chewies and toys at the show to help with boredom.

Three embroidery projects lined up for the Holidays so I am booked! I'll have time for new designs in 2009.

The Launch of www.evergreencresteds.com for Marsha Vassar. What a fun site. Still working on some designs.

Nov. 9th

Lil was due to whelp sometime between this coming Tuesday (11th) and Thursday (13th). She refused her afternoon meal on Friday which was very strange. The fridge was due to arrive soon and I was even tried to call it off. I put Lil in her whelping bed in my bedroom and she started panting and digging so I thought we were going to have pups early. The fridge arrived without her even knowing there were people in the house.
She was in pre labor for over 30 hours. No contractions so I was pretty sure the pups were safe but still some tense hours. She finally started having contractions Saturday evening and progressed though whelping 5 beautiful puppies in a few hours. Sizes ranged from the smallest hairless boy at 3 ozs and the last pup, a big brown spotted girl at 5 ozs. Mom and pups are all doing great this morning.

So many thoughts for the future this morning. How pretty the pups will be with long beautiful coats. Now to watch them grow up and have their own personalities and special looks. I gave Tripper a big hug last night for having such beautiful , healthy babies.
