Reasons why I do not give cash refunds

No one can know 100% of the time if a puppy is going to turn out. We experminent with bloodlines and crosses. Some mature different than others. This is why you are purchasing a Show Prospect only. Some do not turn out. My contract clearly states that I will offer a replacement puppy only, no cash refunds.

When you get a dog from me you have been screened and accepted and are a part of my family. I want you to have a fabulous dog that you can be happy with. If that dog does not turn out I want you, as part of the Shida family, to have another dog.

Breeding dogs is expensive and no one makes money off it. When I sell a puppy, that money is earmarked for something. Perhaps it is heath testing of a different dog or generation. Show expenses, upkeep, even bringing in new bloodlines are all supported by the sale of a puppy. I will say I am not a rich person. The money I get from the sale of a puppy goes right back into the breeding program. It is not stashed away in some bank account for me to retire on.

I am always happy to make a nice puppy available out of the next litter I have. Sometimes I have other people waiting, sometimes that litter does not have something I feel is right for you in it. This does not mean I am keeping a puppy from you. Sometimes you may not like what I am offering you and that is totally your perogative. But you must wait for the next litter to come around. If I am not ready to take responsibility (financially, physically or time wise) for a litter of possibly 8 or 9 pups, or if the dog/bitch I want to breed is not the one that is ready to breed - I will not be breeding a litter. ie-I will not have a litter for the sole reason of giving you a replacement.

If you decide I am not the right breeder for you - we may be able to negotiate something - but it is not my pulling a wad of money out of the bank and giving it to you. I am a working person of modest means. Showing and breeding dogs is my hobby. Again, no one gets rich from breeding dogs! lol!!!

I want you to remain part of my dogs. I do not want you to just decide the dog is not good enough. Neuter it, demaind your money back and go on to another breeder. What does that say about the dog, the breeder, and yourself? Not everyone gets it right the first time. Dogs go oversize, bites go off, health problems occur. these things are not something we expect or we would not have sent you that dog. Please allow me the chance to work with you to get you that top winning dog that will make you proud. I have many people that have done very, very well with the second (and sometimes third!) dog they got from me.

Please feel free to contact me regarding replaceents VS refunds. I am happy to discuss this with you on a case by case basis.
